Making a Difference in the Lehigh Valley...
The Truth Home is a therapeutic residential home offering dramatically changed lives and hope-filled futures to survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. It is a safe place where motivated women are able to rebuild their lives. The home provides intensive therapy in a warm, family setting for women 18 and over for up to 12 months. Handmade Hive donates a portion of every sale to the Truth Home to help them in their efforts to transform women from the inside out through an individualized recovery plan that includes mentoring, counseling, coaching, life skills education, life enrichment classes, job skills training and spiritual encouragement.
Making a Difference in Rwanda...
Colette is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, but she has lived in refugee camps in Rwanda since 2012. She has 3 children that she is raising alone, as her husband is still in Congo. You can read more about Colette's story over in our blog by clicking here. Colette began her business, There Is Still Hope, in 2016 with this mission to communicate to the world: "Through hands and simple things, we can make everlasting and important things". Colette sells a variety of traditional African handmade products, but her signature piece includes her handwoven carpets. The money that Colette makes through Handmade Hive goes directly back to her in Rwanda to help her earn a better living and support her family.
